Ding received his B.S. and M.S. in Chemistry from Peking University in China and obtained his doctoral degree from the University of Washington at Seattle. His research focused on MS-supported biomedical screening of genetic diseases in newborns under Dr. Michael Gelb. During his post-doctoral training with Dr. Peipei Ping at UCLA DGSOM, Ding led and made key contributions to multiple projects involving omics-supported characterization of protein degradation machineries and protein turnover dynamics in heart. Since his promotion as a research faculty of the Physiology Department in 2012, Ding has focused on research areas including oxidative stress and post-translational modifications (PTMs) underlying cardiovascular diseases.
